The status message indicates if a word can be displayed or not on the cube and shows the position number of the first letter of a word if found in the database. Numbers range from 1 up to 9, beginning at the top left corner and ending at the bottom right corner.
The initial cube state is shown instead of the entered word only if the word can't be displayed.
Letters of the top left corner: B, G, H, K, L, M, N, S, P, T, Z and blank.
Letters of the top edge: A, E, O, R, U, W, Y, Z and blank.
Letters of the top right corner: A, B, D, E, I, L, N, O, R, Z and blank.
Letters of the left edge: A, B, E, I, L, N, O, U, V, W and blank.
Letters of the center: A, G, N, O, R, Z and blank.
Letters of the right edge: A, D, E, I, L, N, O and blank.
Letters of the bottom left corner: E, I, L, N, O, Z and blank.
Letters of the bottom edge: G, O, Z and blank.
Letters of the bottom right corner: H, N, S, Z and blank.
There are only 3 blank corners, 2 blank edges and 1 blank center that can be displayed together. Therefore a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 9 continous letters that can be displayed on a cube face.
The cube features the letters A, B, D, E, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, U, V, W, Y and Z. This means that words consisting of the letters C, F, J, Q, X can not be displayed.
Due to cube symmetry properties, an 'H' or an 'N' on the top left corner can become the same 'H' and 'N' on the opposite bottom right corner. In the same way, an 'N' on the left edge is transformed into the same 'N' on the opposite right edge. This applies equally to letters 'I', 'S' and 'O'.
The 'N' on a top left corner can become a 'Z' on the top right and bottom left corner. The same for the 'N' on the left edge which can be transformed into a 'Z' on the top and bottom edge. The 'N' in the center can be used as a 'Z' as well.
